There are no schools for aircraft Engineers/Mechanics in Ireland. There are a couple in Britain though. Shannon aerospace are not a school. They take on trainees or apprentices. Which is the normal means of becoming an engineer in Ireland. Unless you go to Britain or elsewhere and train at a proper schoo.

    How about Carlow IT ?

They have a Bachelor of Engineering in Aircraft Systems CW507 course.

They have a pretty good setup there with at least one airframe ( an old IAC Magister ) .

I think a good standard of English might be required to start that course. I could be wrong but I'm thinking he is really looking for a school that covers the actual mechanical training and experience rather than go for a BE.

I heard of that course when I was doing electronic engineering at GMIT as a mature student and a couple of us asked if there was any chance of a similar course being organised there. At that time they said they would look into it, but I know nothing came of it. Must enquire again, as I would jump at the chance if it were there, won't hold my breath though.
