Losing a stone in 5 weeks?

Im 26, 6'0 and I currently weigh 12 stone 6. For my own reasons id like to lose a stone in about 5 weeks. I realise such a target is not proper and wouldnt be advised. Ill probably be travelling by this date and would like to lose the weight before i go. I wouldnt be doing this regularly, losing weight this fast or anything.

What would peoples advice be on how i could do this? Lifting the heaviest weights i can with plenty of cardio along with a low carb diet?

Any tips would be very grateful.

hi op, a stone in 5 weeks is easily done (eventhough consideirng you are not really overweight to start with it may not be so easy) - can you post your FULL CURRENT diet + training program?

Forget about the CV mate, if you really want to shift the weight have a look at German Body Comp. Basically you will only be doing weights but the results are fantastic. I have been PT'n with the guys in The Irish Strength Institute in Dublin and i'm shedding body fat like there is no tomorrow. irishstrength.com I know that they do satellite programs too.
    All the best:cool:

    Hold the phone,

BioSignature: Is a systematic approach to losing unwanted body fat in specific locations (spot reduction!)

    thought! that couldn't be done?

Satellite Programs: or those individuals who can't make it to the Irish Strength Institute we offer personalised satellite programs. We will write a specialised program to achieve your goals to suit your own gym environment and provide constant support and feedback.

    Now i this i like.

    Cheers for the link mate

Pretty well known and respected theory tbh.... Google it along with Charles Poliquin.

I'm not sure if it's so much about reducing specific areas, but more about fixing the hormonal and endocrinatic imbalances that make you more prone to storing fat in certain areas.

    Diet would be:

Morning - 2 wholemeal sandwiches with chicken and glass of skimmed milk

Snack - maybe 2 jaffa cakes, not always though.

Late afternoon - Turkey escalopes (grilled) with vegetables

Dinner - Chicken salad or Couple of fish fingers with chicken, small bit of spuds

Tea - Chicken, beans and vegetables

I havent started a proper exercise regime yet. Ive had soccer training twice a week with a match once or twice a week. Im planning to do a lot of cardio on the bike, did this last year and got good results in regard to weight loss, got down to 11st 7 which is the lowest i've ever been. Also planning to do weights like last year as well, although im not sure i was doing it properly last year.

Would 3 sets of 8 repetitions of a weight that you can just about finish the 3rd set with be recommended? 4 times a week ? Ive never actually used squats but i always here theyre amazing for toning and weight loss, i presume these would be recommended?

Thanks for any advice anyone can give

You're not going to lose a stone in 5 weeks with that diet, read the stickies.

Mate, what is your bodyfat %? Is it the gut you are trying to lose?

I wouldn't focus on weight loss (i.e. the scales) - you are 12 and a half stone and 6 foot tall!

Hit the weights hard, do some cardio but no. 1 - clean up your diet cos it's shockin. Two dinners? Jaffa Cakes?!!

Mate you have to sort out the diet first. Meat & Veg, Meat & Salad, Nuts.No Carbs including fruit.
If you read anything by Charles Poliquin you will see that he is dead set against CV for weight loss particularly long distance CV. If you are doing CV make it short sharp burst e.g Rowing 2 minutes quick, 45 second sprint 5 minute active rest. This can be translated into most CV sets, look at doing 35-40 minutes. Sprint followed by active rest repeated.
Weights are your only man for the best results. Combine this with a low carb diet and you'll see results quick.
    Good Luck

Eat 1200 calories a day. Lift heavy weights. Will take you about 3 weeks.

If you're going to advise someone to eat next to nothing for three weeks then at least provide more information. Because that is just stupid.

I'm interested to know what this is, you say travelling so I am guessing hitting the beach. Thing is you usually hear 1-2lb fatloss per week is max recommended, and anymore might be eating into muscle. A stone is 14lb so you are looking aiming for almost 3lb per week, assuming you want to lose fat and not muscle along with fat you might be better off aiming for 2lb loss and maintaining the muscle you have by lifting heavy.
