Both teams seem to only be playing for some sort of pride after both crashed out of the CL midweek.

Hopefully it'll be a good match. *fingers crossed*

Probably a scored draw - both played mid week so may not be the best of games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Neither team cares. Will probably be a draw, a boring one.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Don't care really, little to play for so it could be a nice relaxed open game. Or a bore.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,178 ✭✭✭DenMan

Arshavin, if he plays could be a deciding factor in this game. Also Drogba may be out and he has caused us huge problems in the past. Let's hope it's not a going away present with him possibly leaving Chelsea over the summer. Come on Arsenal.

Should be a good game, I reckon Arsenal will come out on top.

Shame I won't be able to watch it...

I think its got draw written all over it. A boring scoreless draw I'd say. Both teams have nothing to play for.

It's not completely without significance though is it?

I'd been wondering about this myself earlier.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Arsenal won't get 3rd even if they win today.

They'd need Chelsea to drop points in their remaining 2 games, and they'd need to go to Old Trafford themselves and win.

really struggling to take an interest in this.

    bore draw maybe?

Far from it - it's why Wenger has been banging on about trying to catch Chelsea in the last few weeks (since 4th has looked secure).

We might have run out of games from that point of view (particularly with Chelsea not having to rest players for a CL final) but I'd be hoping for an Arsenal win today to try and push them as close as possible.

    Arshavin Hatrick 3-2 Arsenal.
1-2 at half time to Chelsea.

From arsenal.com it was on the cards all week

Andrey Arshavin may sit out Sunday’s game with Chelsea. The Russian midfielder has been laid low with flu and has missed training for the past two days. The 27-year-old still has a couple of days to recover but, at his pre-game press conference on Friday, Arsène Wenger was not optimistic. “Andrey couldn’t practice and it looks like he will be short for Sunday,” said the manager. “He has flu. We had to send him home again today.”

Arsenal so much better without Adebayor upfront. The team as a whole seem much hungrier than Chelsea atm.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,211 ✭✭✭Royale with Cheese

Was just waiting for that to happen.

Arsenal to capitulate and not have another shot in the entire game.

Arsenal have dominated possession, Chelsea are ahead courtesy of two clinical finishes, hardly rolling over.

Just kinda sunk into me that Anelka has played for 1/4 of the current Premierships clubs!

Scary isn't it? Give him enough time and he'll end up back at Arsenal.

Diaby really is a pathetic excuse for a footballer.

Is Fabianski allergic to catching a ball?

    Yep, deafening that was.

The performance has a whole from Arsenal has actually been fairly good going forward. It just underlines how much needs to be added defensively in the summer.

Diaby is useless, especially out on the wing. He takes far too long with the ball and inevitably loses it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 264 ✭✭selpher

    Andy Gray seemed genuinely gutted.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,500 ✭✭✭✭cson

Lord lamping jaysus Diaby is useless. He's not a winger, he's not a defensive midfielder, he's not an attacking midfielder, in fact to say he's a midfielder of any description would be to do the position an injustice. To be fair to the lad, I don't think he knows what he is either. Bar being useless.
