CZ 452... How to tell which model? And a few more questions :-)

    Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and to hunting, so hopefully this thread in the correct place. I recently put a deposit on a CZ 452 .22LR rifle but in my haste and eagerness I forgot to (stupidly) check which model it is i.e. Lux, American etc.

Here are the details as shown on the dealer receipt:

    CZ ZKM452 M 2E .22

SPORT HD DM3-9x40 (the scope i bought with it)

From having held the rifle and checked the internet, I think it's either a standard model or a Lux. The cost of the rifle is €450 and the scope €90 if that helps.

I would be grateful if someone could help me determine which model it actually is and at the same time, if you have any comment on whether this is a decent rifle/scope combo etc then please don't hesitate.

And if thats not too much, a bit of info about where I can get a good value safe for that as well!

    Thanks in advance! :D

Moose, if there was checkering on the grip and a set trigger ie: the trigger can be pushed forward to give a lighter trigger pull, its the LUX if there's no checkering on the grip its the standard, the American has no iron sights on the barrel and a straight line to the top of the stock in stead of the hogs back.

The scope I would count as pretty basic but reliable. If you want to get some thing different at the same cost PM me and I'll help you out.

Thanks FS, yes there was a small patch of checkering on the grip as far as I can remember. There was an iron rear sight but that was it and it was a hogs back shape alright, so im thinking its the Lux.

    EDIT: foresight

There's a dovetail at the front, does that mean that it is possible to mount a foresight like those used in target shooting? Or am I way off track?

    EDIT: rearsight

Also, are the above prices decent value for this kit? It's all new plus they're gonna throw in a few boxes of ammo and perhaps a service kit. Oh and thanks for the offer, but since they are doing me a deal ill stick with the scope for the moment and learn the ropes. Offer noted for future reference though, cheers.

    Moose

EDIT: stupidly mixed the two up

Moose this has me a little concerned, by a dovetail at the front do you mean the muzzle ie: the end of the barrel??

If so there should be an iron sight there as standard:

    Something like this.

If its not there there's something fishy going on!!

FS I thought that the set trigger only came on the CZ 453 models??

Moose have a look here to see if you can pick out your CZ 452

My bad :o, the Clive man is right the 453 has the set trigger not the 452 , but if it has the hogs back (Monte Carlo) stock and checkering on the grip it's the 452Lux.

Little concerned about NO front sight on a new rifle, what you think Clive???

Oops, sorry i missed a bit there which made it sound stupid. There's a sight at the front alright like in the picture. But in front of the bolt there is a dovetail rail which looks like that used to mount the rear sight in target shooting? Are rear-sights not used in hunting?

OK, thats the dovetail where you fit the mounts which hold your scope.

Sights are only fitted to these rimfire models
513 basic, LUX, FS, Scout. All the rest only have a dovetail for scopes.

No I know what a scope is, I'm talking about the rear-sights used in target shooting? I was under the impression that in target shooting the small adjustable sight nearest to the bolt is called the rear-sight. (sorry for earlier mixup FS!)

    My questions are:
    1. Are rear-sights used in hunting
    2. Is it possible to put such on the 452Lux

Might be completely wrong on all the terminology but i dont think so?

Get yourself a scope for hunting and target shooting.
Read above the LUX has sights fitted as standard.
