if your budget will stretch to one of the entry level Spinner Bikes... i'd go for that...

If your goal is losing fat I'd sooner get this set of these weights.

And I would sooner get a real bike, cycling indoors is very boring, going outside is more enjoyable to me, and you get to go places, cycling in dublin is quicker than driving in todays traffic.

+1 on that. You can also ckeck fitness depot.ie too but since you have argos vouchers then that's highly unlikely!

But if you are someone that finds it hard push themselves intensly when exercising at home then id go with rubadubs advice and buy a real bike. not that expensive and use it whenever you need to go to towm/friends etc etc.

yeah it can depend on your own focus... but there are Spinning DVDs, Performance and Weight Loss porgrammes etc available for encouragement too :) there is also a whole load of support on Spinning.com, music playlists, articles and guides videos of all the core moves and positions with guidance on technique etc...

sure if the decision is based on available vouchers then sounds like a spinner isn't possible... argos have a load of fitness equipment so lots to choose from

if the OP does go getting weights, make sure to start off gradually and learn how do use them right... lots of good books out there and there are a few people on here who know their stuff...

Hey, back again. I'm not sure what it says about my proposed dedication that I took so long to reply to my own thread...

FWIW, I've begun to take up jogging. It did highlight how unfit I am - I jogged 2.5 miles yesterday and was wrecked by the end. What I've been told though is that jogging is more strenuous, and thus better exercise, than an exercise cycle - is that true? It works more of the body? If that's the case would a treadmill be a better idea or something more along those lines? I'm trying to think of some indoor exercise as I can use it while watching TV and on the numerous days that it's wet here (and I wouldn't trust myself on Irish roads on a regular bike).
