    Wiggle assembly: pedals and handlebars
Bike weighup: depends what groupset comes with the Allez Elite
I have an 06 model that came with 105. It's a great bike and I have no issues with it. From which materials are both frames made?
Shipping times from wiggle are usually 2 -5 days.

:cool:Hi raam, thanks for your reply, the focus cayo has 105 on it and is carbon, and the specialized has mix of 105 and tiagra and is aluminium frame..... I ordered the canyon roadlite 5.0 with 105 on it at 845.00 great price but is out of stock and not available any more [ bummer ] . Now looking at specialized allez sport at 825.00 with tiagra on it but i am wondering if i would be much better off paying the extra 350-400 euro on the focus cayo from wiggle or not.... I,m just getting back into cycling after years away from it and for keeping fit mainly and will not be racing on it at all but want a really good road bike that will last me for years.... Will only be doing 2 or 3 hours sunday morming spins on it every week, due to time restrictions unfortunately...... Is around 1200.00 euro to much to pay for what i need it for do you think or should i stick to the allez sport at 825.00....Would love some advice on this guys....Cheers....

I'm hoping that my job will sign up to the cycle to work scheme in the next while so I'll be having similar decisions to make soon.

I've been looking at the two of these and I'm personally thinking in favour of the Cayo. It's full carbon and 105 around. The Spesh has carbon forks and seat stays and the rest is aluminium, as well as some of the lesser tiagra bits and pieces around. I'm thinking that as I'm going to be splashing out and won't want to be feeling that I could have gone a step better and wanting to upgrade again in a year to two.

Also, I think (though don't quote me on it) that the Specialized is low on stock around the place (Ireland) and you might find it difficult to get one if you actually decide to go for it. I could be off on that though.

The only thing that I'm wary about in any way with regards the Cayo is that reviews that I've read online indicate that the setup of it is a bit on the stiff side and maybe not as comfortable on very long distances as some of it's rivals. That said, I'll be upgrading from a Sirrus (hybrid) so I'd be surprised if it's less comfortable than that in any way.

I'd go for the Cayo. Have the 2008 Ultegra one mysef and very happy with it. Had Tiagra on another bike before and didnt like it

:cool:Thanks irishmotorist and bambaata,i think the cayo is the better option all right but is 1200.00 euro to much to pay for a bike that will only be used every sunday morning for a 2 or 3 hour spin once a week as i have asked already,or is 825.00-850.00 euro a more realistic price for my cycling needs, what do you think guys.....I would love to get out on the bike more but due to work and other time restrictions unfortunately it wont be possible, although i still would like a really good road bike that will last me for years as i have always enjoyed cycling for many many years......Cheers....

It's only too much to pay if you think it's too much to pay... can't put a price on happiness, and who knows -you may enjoy it so much you want to get out more than once or twice a week.

    Go for the Cayo

Asked same thing in separate thread and the answers were:

Carbon frame will be bigger upgrade than the ultegra groupset as 105 is all you really need and carbon suppose to be much comfy to ride.

Don't know the technical details but it is different than the 2008 frame . You can read the article, the 2008 frame was lighter than 2007 etc. More details on German site. As blorg says, it is a great frame for this price range.
The Culebro has the exact same spec as the 2008 Cayo but I think the carbon frames just shades it.

Good luck with your choice and let us know how you get on.

:)Just want to say a big thanks to all of you guys who replied to this thread, your help and advice has been a great help, the focus cayo defo comes out on top here......The funny thing here is when i originally began to think of buying a new road bike i stupidly thought i would get a really good new bike for around 650.00- 700.00 euro max,how wrong was i or what,,,,, then it went up to 825.00 then 905.00 and now i am looking at the focus cayo at 1192.00 and i have, ent even told the wife yet that i might splash out over a grand on a bicycle cos she will probably hit me over the head with a blunt instrument when i do....I defo think you go a bit strange in the head as you rapidly approach that 40 years of age syndrome guys....but as somebody already has pointed out on this thread you cant put a price on happiness....Defo thinking of the cayo now and will let you know the outcome over next few weeks, just need to save up some more spondulicks- yo yo,s first......... Cheers..............

:cool:Hi nietzschean, maybe we are both off our heads then, thats a nice bike you have got there... I presume you bought it online from wiggle, what was the delivery time like, what delivery company did they use and is it just a matter of sticking on the pedals and straighten, ing the handlebars when it arrives i hope.....Tell me their was pedals with it in the box also for that price...........

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,314 ✭✭✭Nietzschean

yeah i got it off wiggle, they use target express/city-link for delivery..who were a day late because they didn't realise it was in ireland?(i rang and they checked if they had it) . ordered on a tue arrived on tue , so 7 days i spose. And the handle bars are off/twisted and taped onto the frame, easy to put them on though. they include a pedal wrench and a set of tools(allen keys/screw drivers). It does come with pedal's but cheapy plastic ones, would defo recommend going for some spd's (got the ultegra spd-sl's meself , figured might aswell match bike after all that) anyway if you get spd's i'd put them on an old bike for an hour or 2 so you can get comfortable with them.

Cheers for the info thats great nietzschean,,,,,,,just out of total curiosity and i know its in a totally different league here than the cayo...... What do you think of the specialised allez sport at 825.00,i can get me hands on one brand new 09 model for around 735.00-740.00 euro if i want one, have you heard anything about them at all good or bad just before i decide to splash out big bucks for a cayo..............
