Has anybody been to croatia on holidays. What's it like for a family. Any advise on booking through a travel agent or DIY.
As always thanks for your advise.

    Hi Brian,

I was there a few years ago for a wedding. LOVED it!

The people were great. I know that sounds like bullpoo, but they will
help you out and NOT look for payment. They are really decent. Funny,
they look like a serious bunch, I didn't see too many smiley faces. Maybe
the Irish are quicker to smile, I dont know.
On arrival, the bus left with my bag! I explained what was going on
(not easy mind you, their english isn't the best) and they brought me
around the city on 2 different busses to track down the bags. A nice
smile and that was it. I was sure there'd be some rip off fee. A nice
    change of pace.

The happy couple went to Montenegro after - about 2 hours down the
road - and they loved it. Looked as nice and was half the price. I'd defo
    consider that.

No idea what it was like for the kids. From the people I met, I'd say it's
just dandy for the kids too.

Sorry theres not a lot of info for you there, but defo go. And defo
get an apartment. I got a Hotel and it wasnt cheap at all. It
was Irish rates (I went high season though)

I was there three years ago (Dubrovnik) and am going again this year for a week in Dubrovnik and a week in Montengro.

It was probably one of the best holidays I've been on. We went with Budget (don't think they do Croatia anymore) and stayed in Lapad which is a resorty area of Dubrovnik. There were plenty of families around this area but at the same time considering we were there in late July it wasn't packed. It's a very relaxed and friendly country, certainly no lager louts or anything like that about.

I looked into booking it independently this time but I couldn't get it cheaper than the agents so I just went with Croatia Tours who were quite competive I thought.

Let me know if you want any further specific information and I might be able to help.

My wife and 6 month old baby and I went there for 21/2 weeks last July.I would reccomend for the weather, prices and ease of getting around. We went flight only and booked accomadation as we went along.Theres loads available. We would take an apartment or room in a house(all of which are widely available and advertised),for about 60 euros/night.Eating out is much cheaper than Ireland as is price of alchol. We got a ferry from Venice to Pula and basically used ferries and public transport to meander our way through coastal Croatia .We arrived in Dubrovnik and flew homefrom there.

How ya, i live close by and have been down to Croatia many a time, both work and for the beach. Great place to be, as said before get an apartment. Hotels are expensive. I think you will get more freedom from it to. Also people are great, and language shouldn't be a problem. (But then i do speak Slovenian and some Croatian!)

Any other advice give us a shout! I live only over the border in Slovenia.

    Cheers

I went to Korcula with my boyfriend a few years ago - it was a late deal (with Sunway) very good value and a really beautiful chilled island. Fab weather, good food, blue blue sea, lots of sun. Still remember the grilled prawns and white wine by the sea front - would recomend...

Went there two years ago. Best holiday I've ever had. Everything is so chilled out there- the islands are amazing. I like to go somewhere new every time I go on holidays but will definately return to Croatia. Would highly recommend it.
