Sky Reception Problems

Hi, I have a Sky Plus subscription for the last few months now, but in the last couple of weeks I've had a lot of problems with the picture & sound freezing for a split second very 30 seconds or so which is making viewing impossible. It seems to be happening on the normal channels (RTE TV3 BBC) etc most of the time but it does happen on the other channels now & again too. I've tried their tech support phoneline but like everyone else I only get a voice recording. Just wonder if anyone has any advice how maybe I could fix the problem myself, as I'm sure it's probably something simple. Thanks.

    Check signal first.

Go to Services, System Setup, Signal Test, and report what your signal Quality is like.

    A few things to try..

Turn down the instant rewind time I recommend 5 mins

    Do this by pressing services
    press button 5

    move time down and save..

    Do housekeeping on your drive

    Press services
    press no 4
    now press 0,1, select
Press no 7 housekeeping option and follow onscreen instructions(Dont worry it wont delete any recordings)

If u dont need any of your recordings use option 8 instead of 7 and it will wipe ur drive...

I've been having these problems as well, except I just have the normal Sky box.

The problem is far worse on one box than the other. We don't get a signal...

I tried moving the 'good' box into the 'bad' box room, and get the more negative result... The connections inside the house are all fine. I can't see the two connections on the dish itself.

Sky told us to ring Sierra Communications. They just quoted us €108 for a call out, without knowing whether or not they can fix it.

    super....

    no arsenal/manyoo for me

I've been plagued by this problem(momentary break up every 7 or 8 mins when it's bad) on 2 HD boxes .I've gone on roof to check dish and lnb and everything looks ok.Signal reception min 50% and as high as 70%.I hooked up my old Sky+ box and same problem.Lnb was only replaced last summer when I bought 2nd HD box. Can't figure out problem:(

I've also started to have problems with my Sky+ box in the past few days, picture and sound breaks up every few seconds on every channel, its gotten so bad that its unwatchable. We have two other boxes in other rooms which aren't Sky+ and are working perfectly. I have tried the suggestions on this thread and others but nothing seems to be working. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Signal quality is at around 90% for both Input 1 and 2.

I remember reading that Sky were recalling Pace Sky+ HD boxes due to a fault. Won't be suprised if they recall PACE Sky+ boxes too, lots of people including myself seem to be having problems with them.

I installed my Pace Sky+ box myself recently,no problems, what difficulties are you having?

i had the same problem as most have described, picture, sound breaking up but mainly on normal tv channels rte,tv3,tg4,bbc etc.
got sky engineer out who replaced the lnb,got home from work no improvement, called sky and got second engineer out albeit 2 weeks later who replaced the sky box,no improvement and i was charged for second callout,by chance i got talking to a sky installer through my own line of work and described the problem,he asked 'does it get worse during bad weather', yes i said,'your dish is mis aligned, try moving it',i told the third sky engineer what he had said, dish was moved and since i have had no problems.
