A friend of mine has been blocked from accessing facebook and youtube at work. Is there any work around for this to access them?

Yes but methods vary between filters. However is it worth risking ones job, especially in this climate, just to view youtube videos?

Changing the proxy settings often works, but as BuddhaJoe says it really does depend on the setup in place in the office

We recently tightened up web access in our place as we knew that users had found out how to bypass the proxy. We've just blocked all HTTP and HTTPS access from everything except the proxy server and all the other servers.

Now, we know that users can just change their IP address to a static with the server range however, what they may not realise is that they have agreed to the company's IT policy which states that bypassing the security measures in place is gross misconduct and could lead to immediate dismissal.

Management want us to tell them all the details of anyone who tries this and they will be "dealt with according to company policy"

Is there a "Dolebook" website he'd like to access too? :D

check terms and conditions , many places could use this as a handy excuse to get rid of unproductive staff give the economic client

if there is a library nearby then book time to browse during lunch or get a laptop and 3G card that can be used at lunch though many companies would get upset at bringing in a laptop
