    Title says it all really.

Can anyone help me out here. I've tried my hand with realplayer a few times and never had any luck. This time I'm determine dto get it though.

When i click on a realplayer link that should play a video, all i get is audio and a generic visualisation on the screen. Anyone know how i can fix this?

Thanks to anyone able to help out (sorry if this is the wrong section)

What format of video file are you trying to play?
I understand you have right codec installed on your computer?

Trying to use it for streaming, so I've no idea of file format. Was told I'd need a DIVX codec so went and got it.

    Still no luck though.

I have this issiue and the only way around it I've found is when the video is playing right click it and choose "Play file in Real Player", this will then load the file in the actual program and the video displays ok

It works for me on the RTE site anyways, are you on Vista 64Bit by any chance? I am and I hear that Real Player isn't really 64Bit ready

No, I'm on 32bit. I don't know why it insists on giving me so much hassle. I'm not home at the moment, but when i get home i'll try it out again. If i can't get it working I'll just give up and never use it again :(

Just curious is any particular reason why you try to use Real Player?

There is a lot of other soft which works for that purpose very well.

I myself tried Real Player few years back. It worked but was slow, sluggish as far as I remember and had some bugs as well.

Some sites only use real player for their embedded video, fortunately its not as common these days with flash video, but still some sites require it, its also quite common for online streaming radio, Real player is adware, bloated and rubbish, but its a "neccesary" evil for certain websites, as Real Alternative hasn't been updated in a while so doesn't work all the time
