I am hoping to pursue this course next year & was hoping to gain insight into the course.
Is the maths & stats really as bad as everyone says?

I wanted to bump this up to the front page and see if it can get any hits.

I was offered (and accepted) a place in the Taught MSc Economics program for 2009/10 (hopefully leading into the PhD) and last week was 'officially' notified by the department via email, thanking me for accepting. Anyone else in the 2009/10 class or even 2008/09?! I'm trying to get a feel of what it's all like.

For the math and stats course, if you're still hooked in kats, my letter in the email says
"As you have already been informed, you are required to pass these courses before proceeding to the rest of the programme. However, in case this sounds scary, I must emphasize that this has not been a problem in the past, and the your predecessors have enjoyed the course throughout."
Reassuring? Let me meet my predecessors first.

For TCD and grad programs, do they always seem to wait this long before notification? I mean, in reality it's less than 6 weeks between now and when I'll be arriving in Dublin. Maybe its a difference in systems, I'm use to the U.S. where they'll notify first rounders easily 4-5 months before. And on a side note, when could you expect a mailing with the 'congrats' letter and info?

Everything sounds on schedule. I did it in 08/09. Ask questions here.

    EGaffney,

I do have one question at the moment, I just got my room offer for Trinity Hall. Worth it? With the classes and trying to be around campus would I be better off to find a flat or share around Dub 2?
