Hullo, after years of listening to a group of mates raving about Lost, i went out and bought the first series on DVD yesterday.

I haven't seen all of it yet, but i'm hooked already!

But, i've a few questions if that's okay?

How many series are available to buy, (don't have Sky so can't watch it on tv).

And, in all honesty, do you think they've kept up the momentum of Series 1?

I've heard several complaints, and i'm wondering if it's worth shelling out another sixty quid!:p

    Hi, Elliemental.

Be careful of spoilers around here, especially in the thread titles.

There are 4 seasons of the show currently available on dvd. The 5th season (which ends next week) will be released in December. The 6th and final season starts in February 2010 and it'll probably be December again for the dvd.
And, in all honesty, do you think they've kept up the momentum of Series 1?

I've heard several complaints, and i'm wondering if it's worth shelling out another sixty quid!
The momentum has stayed pretty consistent imo. There are certainly a few dips but there were a few in season 1 as well. If you are watching the episodes back-to-back you won't really feel them. If anything, the pace quickens from season 4 onward due to shorter seasons.

Has the quality stayed consistent? I'd argue yes but some will disagree. However, a lot of the pissing and moaning is a result of the long waits for new episodes and the fact that after several seasons you're so used to the show that little things about it start to annoy you. It's the same with any long running tv show. I think if you watch the seasons altogether it's much more enjoyable experience.

Btw, you should be able to get the dvds a helluva lot cheaper online. Keep an eye on Bargain Alerts. Or use www.find-dvd.co.uk

i love the show, always have, i know why your mates love it but dont let the odd person tell ya its terrible and stupid even though they havent even bothered to watch like 2 seconds of it (that really annoys me aout my friends as im the only one out of them who likes it)

definatly recommend getting all available seasons and watching them but if i was you i would try to kinda space them out a bit.
Us who have been watching it since the start have to wait every week for a new one but i think that if you got all seasons done in a month it wouldnt seem as great, i would say watch like 4/5 episodes on the weekend then 1 or 2 during the week or something, (but its up to you).

Thanks for the replies. I'm loving the show, and I regret now not watching when it was on on channel 4.

I hope there aren't several threads like this already, but like Sad Professor was saying, i just wanted to avoid the inevitable spoilers.

I will definately be looking on line for the other series', it's just i'm not too patient with things like this. I'll be dying to find out what happens next!

I can safely say I havent missed one episode since it started and think
it's well worthwhile watching. There were a couple of times during the
last two seasons where I did find the pace dropped but the current season more than makes up for it.

If you really wanna catch up on the show but can't afford to buy the DVD's then either rent them from your local Xtravision (only a few quid for the week for a season on DVD) or find the episodes online.

If I was you I'd advise you to stay away from this forum until you are up to date with the rest of us, coz I think it will ruin your enjoyment seeing spoilers about the show. Part of the beauty of Lost is slowly gaining little bits of the story and seeing massive reveals as they happen, whereas if you knew about major plot points while watching earlier episodes you might not enjoy the show as much.

    Thanks for the replies guys!

I've finished series one, and now I'm having dreams about what could be down the hatch!
So I've booked a week off work, i'm renting series two and three from my local Xtravision.
I'm hopping with excitement, it's probably quite sad!!

Seasons 1-4. Season 5 will come out sometime this summer or prior to Season 6's start.

It gets better and better, although there was sort of a slow patch the first half of season 3.
