Firefox slow typing

    Even as I am typing this, it's well slow. It's as if I can type faster than Firefox can manage to print the letters on screen. It's not just slow either on a particular site. Its slow to type in the search bar etc.

    I have tried:
    1. Safe mode
    2. Disabling all add-ons
    3. Disabling spell check as I type
    4. Creating a new profile and running as this profile
    5. Uninstalling and re-installing
    6. Firetune (Amazingly quicker to run, but still typing problems)

    It's driving me insane! Any ideas?? :confused:

    I had the same problem after installing the Beta of service pack 2 for Vista don't know if that may be whats causing it for you.

    What's your cpu usage like. I've noticed on older pcs with crappy processors that when you try to do a couple of things at once, you get lag when typing.

    this happens to me with my work pc but its only a slight delay so its not that noticeable.

    how much of a delay are you experiencing?

    Hey, thanks for your replies.

    My machine is windows XP, fully patched/SP'd etc. It's a decent machine, I run many apps on it as I am a web developer (Oracle, SQL Server, IIS, Tomcat, Java the works...), all these apps run perfectly fine and perform as expected.

    I doubt its'a machine spec issue, relatively new machine, Duo Core processors, 2.40GHz each, 3 Gb of ram... The machine runs very smooth as do all my apps, I have just noticed this with Firefox. :mad:

    As for lag time, maybe 1-2 seconds between words (maybe 2-4 at a time) not appearing.

    :confused:
