Is there any Carbon neutral races anywhere in the world?

If not - would it be possible to organise one?

One in which the peloton stop every 5km to plant a tree in a nearby field.

Do you mean carbon neutral just for the teams and the organisers or for everyone involved including the spectators? Surely the bike race in itself, which promotes cycling worldwide as a fun pastime and healthy alternative to commuting is a form of carbon neutrality?

Anyways, aren't most of those "neutral" things scams? I can't remember the details but I think it involved companies buying large tracts of land where trees were already being grown to offset their carbon emissions, rather than developing new green areas.

it means you leave no trace

    at one with nature

e.g. probably best to have local riders cycling to it

It's ok though, if you have a carbon bike you can fly 4 times around the world, since your carbon usage is already offset by the bike. Even more if you have carbon wheels, bottle cages etc..

Rather than having one race, would it make more sense to run numerous races simultaneously at different points around the globe - surely with the technology that could be managed?!?!?

This might be a dumb question, but why does it have apparently different tyres on the front and back - GP Force on the back and GP attack on the front?

I figured 'carbon-neutral' would be something like this, as in no carbon bikes allowed :)

Which appeals to my cro-mo sensibilities fetish :)
