Amount reserved but seller has no record of purchase?

On Tuesday I was trying to buy a cdrom of ComputerActive back issues. I entered my details but got "card payment declined". I tried several more times just to be sure but kept getting the error message.

I then checked my online banking and the cost of the cdrom has been reserved since Tuesday. I sent two emails to the website concerned but got nothing. I checked with my bank today and its definitely them that has the amount reserved. I rang the website phone number tonight (twice!) and they have no record of an order from my address.

Am I going to end up out of pocket with no cdrom and lose the cash as well?!?!? I'm tearing my hair out with this. Nobody wants to know. Can I stop the payment somehow? Is there anything I can do?:mad::mad:

Ring your bank and tell them what's happened. Get them to stop the payment.

Reserved doesn't necessarily mean the money will be taken from your account. The money is usually held for a period of 2-3 days and if no further request is made, it's refunded back to your card.

  • Thanks guys. It's still reserved at the moment. Two PayPal payments I made at the same time last Tuesday have gone through so maybe it will be returned eventually.

I managed to get in touch with ComputerActive through their forums and they're looking into it. I was about to head to my bank to try and get the payment stopped but I think I will wait and see.
