Romanian Deadlift

    I started this exercise recently and am just working on getting the form right at the moment. I find myself focusing really hard to keep my back from rounding out at the bottom of the lift. I did notice today though for the last few reps of my last set that if I pushed my hips upwards at this point that I felt it on my hamstrings much more - is there any reason not to push upwards like this?

    More generally I'd like some pointers for getting form right if anyone has any to offer.

    Doesn't sound liek you're doing an RDL at all from that description.

    All you should be concerned about is arching your back hard and pushing your hips back as far as possible. When you can do no further without losing your arch, come back up.

    I think that's what I meant about pushing the hips. I think what I was initially doing was pushing my hips out, bending at the knees slightly and then bending forward. When I started to focus on pushing the hips outwards through the whole movement I felt it much more on my hamstrings, which I believe is the target.

    -slight bend in the knees
    -hips go back
    -hamstrings hurt
    -back starts to lose arch
    -come back up!

    It just sounds simpler than it is to perform! Or maybe it's just me...

    Nah it's actually one of the harder ones to get the form right on!!

    When you're doing it right, you won't get much past your knees, if at all!
