    Hi all,

Has anyone had any experience of using the SCC?
I have been having a bit of trouble with a very large German music supplier.
I have been emailing them since early April and have had no response whatsoever.(some of my mails have actually been rejected!!!).
all I wanted was to know what the procedure was for returning a faulty product that was still in warranty.

Would the SCC deal with a situation like this where the retailer is based in another country?

    Cheers ....IM

I'm not sure of the procedure but I'd be surprised if the SCC had jurisdiction outside of Ireland.

A visit to the Citizens Advice Bureau might be more productive.

Of course if you'd have shopped in Ireland you'd be popping around to your friendly dealer to sort it out ...

If we are thinking of the same German retailer, I would suggest getting on the phone to them first. Email is a funny thing sometimes (and it's easier to ignore somebody). I have generally found their customer service to be pretty good.

Also, if you paid by credit card (which is more than likely) you should contact your credit card company first (if nothing comes of phoning them).

    Solid advice.

Is that a product that arrived faulty or has since developed a fault?

SCC will only deal with claims from Irish based companies up to (i think) 2K Euro..

There is however, a new European Claims court that you can use for companies within the EU.. Try that (as a last resort), phoning them may save you a lot of pain...

You fill in the yellow form and just send it back.

Just a +1 here; I've had to send stuff back to both of the major german retailers. The phone was always more effective, and their service is excellent.

Since the start of the year you can claim from a company based in any EU country (except Denmark). Check this:
