everything works fine,i have 2 audio interfaces constantly connected to the usb ports at the front i only disconnect them to plug something else like the phone in,i just dont wanna keep plugging things in and out without making it safe to do so.

Is the problem only when you try to remove devices? Do you see attached devices in My computer?

you probably know this already but I will say it anyway (just in case)
your audio devices do not have to be "safely removed" the only decices that will show up in the "safely remove" window are storage devices, your phone may have storage on it in which case that should show in the window but your audio devices will not.

try using a usb storage device (if you already haven't done so) and see if it appears as normal.

this is a little strange alright, another possible cause could be the disk caching options assigned to each storage device, to check the caching options,
1\right click on the drive i my computer and hit properties (eg, your phone/usb thumb drive)
    2\click on the harware tab
3\hit properties (near the bottom beside trouble shooting)
4\under the "policy tab" check that the last tick box in the window is ticked.

If it.s not this may explain why you are not given the option to safely remove, this is a long shot however becase it should be selected by default and it is not a global value. as in you would have had to accidentaly change it for each device,

sorry I could,nt be of more help.

sorry I was assuming you were using xp, I am about to install vista right now as a matter of fact, I'll have a look and get back to you in about 2 hours.

I've modified the above post, It's now accurate for xp (and possibly vista:rolleyes:)

    for vista it's

    1\my computer
2\right click your removable device and select properties
    3\select the "Hardware" tab
    4\hit propeties (at the bottom)
    5\select "polocies" tab

you should be presented with a window entitled "write caching and safe removal".
    there are two options:

    1."optimise for quick removal" or
    2."optimise for performance"

if the first option is selected it may explain why you are not given the safely remove option in the taskbar.
this would also mean that you usb storage device is not running at its maximum speed.

as I said before this is a device specific option so it will only affect the device you right clicked on in my computer.

I am not aware of any global setting that can affect all removable usb storage but there may well be one.
