Hey there, just saw your message there, i'll try answer some questions!
I was in Bled for 4 days in August two years ago - it was lovely! We stayed in the George Best hostel and it was great - it was full of young tourists and every night we were there was a bit mental with the owner giving out shots and stuff! Great fun although not good if you wanted a quiet nights sleep.

There isn't a huge amount to do in Bled, there's just a few shops and bars and restaurants in the town, but there are a few companies that offer water sport activities and things. The lake itself is lovely and there's a specific area for swimming in.

We rented a boat one day and went out to the island on the lake and had a picnic with cheap booze....probably not the classiest idea outside a church but it was fun!

There's a really nice pizza place called 'rustica' or something, it's a small place up one of the hills and was great, ask someone for directions.

It was pretty cheap compared to Dublin, although Slovenia is a bit more expensive than other countries around there - or so we thought when we were interrailing.

We just spent one day in Llujliana, it was nice but by the time we got there we were sick of seeing cities hence staying in Bled...but it's a lovely city and well worth a visit cos it's only an hour from Bled.

The weather will probably be warm enough - we were there in August and it was nice, although there was an awful thunderstorm for 2 days!

Hope this answers some of your questions - maybe look at other reviews of it to find more things to do, I can't remember exactly!

    Enjoy!

Bled is a lovely place.......but I dunno if I'd hang around there for a week! Not really that much to do - unless you're into hiking etc. Head towards Kranjska Gora if so. Try and get a couple of days in Ljubljana, which is a great spot. And as the other poster says - watch out for thunderstorms! Slovenia is cheaper than here, but not as cheap as surrounding countries. Eating out would be roughly 1/2 the price of ireland.

    Thank you Padraig Mor,
since I posted Bled got sold out so we have booked it for Kranjska Gora.
The hotel seems nice but I'd say it is a very quiet place.
They promised a lake 20 mins from hotel up a mountain, do you think that is possible? would it be a tourist lake suitable for swimming/sunbathing.

Also It seems to be close to austria and italy, so hopefully it will be possible to go on day trips there as well as bled and libjuana.
I am happy enough for it to be quiet tbh

Hi! Well having lived out here for the past few years i can tell you it is not as expensive as Dublin by any means, but it isn't cheap either! Ljubljana is more expensive than the smaller towns, and there can be some great finds restaurant wise if you go a bit off the beaten track. Your staying in Kranjska Gora, its on the Italian, Austrian border. Its also where the Slovenian round of the skiing world cup is held. Not sure about swimming in the lakes at that sort of height water might be a bit cold, but maybe. Depends how hardcore of a swimmer you are!

Weather should be good, it already hot here, was 31c on my thermometer a few mins ago! Thunderstorms are always possible so be prepared for that.

If your in Ljubljana, well loads to do here. Plenty of bars and restaurants beside the river. And dont forget to try some horse burger! If you want any more Ljubljana advice let me know. I might even be around then! :D
