Dell Inspiron 1545 advice pls..

Any thoughts on the Dell spec below would be appreciated,know very little about the tech side of things, I'm happy to go with Dell as previous pc/laptops I have had from them have been good. My requirements are specifically Internet usage, watching youtube videos, want to have a good wireless card, am thinking of upgrading my current basic Eircom router to top of the range router so important my wireless card is good.

Will use a bit of word and excel and store family photos also.

it Looks ok,but if you are not running games on it,or just casual games, go for a deLL with a standard inteL graphics onboard.WHICH run cooler,because it wont require an extra fan to cool the large graphics card,140vram video ram woud be enough.THIS would probably be cheaper.
ie your laptop will have one fan,not 2.

Very good spec OP. Will easily meet all your requirements. Probably much more than you need. Personally, I prefer the studio 15 range than the inspirons, so have a look at them. Not 100% sure how they compare price wise, but have a look.

Wireless card is good, it supports "802.11n" which is basically the latest wireless spec that offers better speed and range. It will be able to get the most out of any new router you buy. (Look up 802.11n routers, you will need one of them to get the most out of the card. A DSL router will be compatible with your eircom connection).

Thanks to both posters for replies.

I will have a look at the Studio range. Would it be worth maybe reducing any of the specs to drive the price down that maybe I don't need.

That's up to you buddy.

You don't need 4 gigs of ram
You don't need such a good processor
You don't need such a good graphics card
and if you really wanted to cut back you could look into alternatives to microsoft office

however you have a very good spec there at a good price. The way dell operate you mightn't end up saving that much by reducing the spec. If you're happy with the money that machine will suit your needs for years. Worth paying the extra bit at the start in my opinion
