So I've got a MacBook, but it's now 2 and a half and the wireless is a bit iffy, which I think is a software problem. Am thinking of getting a new notebook...

Buuut saw the nc20, I like it if upgraded to 2gb ram! I'd use it mostly for surfing, typing photoshop and adobe cs not too regularly so nothing extremely heavy.

Would the nc20 be suitable as my primary computer? I do value portabllity, good lifespan battery and cheapness( who doesn't), opinions?

Not really a primary computer, big differance between the atom processors and a core 2 duo processor, you could probably get by with a netbook but will be on the sluggish side

+1, it really depends on what kind of work you're going to be doing on it. I can't see photoshop running well on it, perhaps for small touch ups and the likes but nothing strenuous. I'd be looking at a 12" core 2 duo machine myself just going by your requirements.

Well, i wouldn't be doing hours of work, nothing heavy. I'd also update it to 2gb ram, which is what i run on now.

I'd ideally like to stick with a mac, but they're too expensive.

2Gb of RAM will only help you so much though, it's processing power and graphics that will also play a large part. If the photoshop stuff you'll be doing on it is only small touch ups etc, it will run, but it won't be lightning fast. I have CS3 running on my netbook, which works, nothing to write home about but still.

As much as I love my NC10: a netbook will be a major step back in processing power Vs a macbook with a core2duo cpu.

The intel atom is really only for web browsing and light word processing with some very light mp3 or very low res movie playback.

A netbook is not a primary machine and your "old" macbook will be significantly faster in adobe on raw cpu speed/power. A 1.6 GHz core2duo is MUCH more powerful than a 1.6Ghz Atom. Do not get blinded by the clockspeed of the atom cpu. Its very slow, low power cpu for very light use only.

I would get a net book if all you are mainly using it for web browsing, but photoshop really is a step too far.
