You get Wii Sports with the console, and you shouldn't pay more than 200 euro for that. It includes Tennis, Golf, Bowling etc.

Wii Fit is good fun and the board can be used for some other games as well, we had lots of laughs with that one. They're around 80 euro but you can haggle a discount with most shops if you're buying it with your console.

If you want to play multiplayer games you'll need another controller. The controller costs exactly the same as Wii Play, a collection of simple fun games, that comes with a controller inside, so you're better off getting that. It's going for around 45 euro but again, can be haggled down.

Expect to pay no more than 280-290 for the above, and you shoulnd't need any more than that to start off.

You can buy games after you've checked the reviews, or rented them to get the feel for them.

The extras like tennis heads, golf clubs etc are just useless plastic appendages that attach to your controller and add absolutely no functionality. I for one would hate having all that plastic clutter lying around for no purpose whatsoever. The steering wheel for Mario Kart I can understand - it's needed. And the guitar for Guitar Hero is good and useful. But forget about the "mega accessory pack".

ok i can still swing with the controller right? its not a key pad? i actually want to feel like im playing tennis/golf ect. well as much as you can be on a console. ok great tanxs that sounds like a good plan to start off with and see how i go then i might look at mario kart use luv that game when i was younger (cant even rem what console i had then)

The Tennis is very good, as is the bowling. The Golf, its more about how quickly you flick your wrist but it is good none the less and can be challenging but very short.

Get MarioKart though, great fun and easy to get into.

I have not really played Tiger Woods but there have been some issues I from what I had read here about the putting etc. if you are looking for a Golf game...however I stand to be corrected.

ok i just went into game stop, the girl said i should get a pre used console for 189euro which includes a preused wii sport and a preused game of my choice is this good value or i could get a new console with wii sport plus a game and mariokart with the stering wheel for 310 euro, im def going to end up getting mariokart anyway how much would that be?. and i want to get wii fit which is an extra 80euro also. the girl recommended i get the preused package now and wii fit (coz i want that) and get mario kart again in couple wks or whenever is that good advise??

Entirely up to yourself, I would not get a pre-owned one because you dont know how long it is out of warranty and I would be interested to see Game's T&C's on returns of faulty equipment. I would by the games pre-owned because they will be in good condition but not a Wii. But that is my own thoughts on it.

If it is in perfect condition, go for it, I just would have my doubts.

I would make getting MarioKart a priority and just buy it new if they dont have it pre-owned. Get Wii Fit pre-owned I suppose...all the same really.

i said i wanted a new one and she said you still get a 1yr warranty with a preowned and the preowned games u get 30day warranty. they dont hav wii fit or mariokart preowned. anyway i just rang them again and said to the guy i want to buy new with mariokart + wii fit how much he said 290euro that includes the sport aswell that sounds like a good price i think. im going to go with that id say it will get me started anyway and i can look at other games when i get the hang of it.

Yeah, the new console seems like better value to me, it's only 10 euro dearer for god's sake! What sort of a discount is that for a used console? 5%?!

Enjoy your new console, and check out adverts.ie for some used Wii games, they're always better value than the shops :)

For game reviews, I find these two sites very useful:
