Rickenbacker Jetglo 4003 bass, an old Fender Precision bass sunburst, a MacBookPro and Hewlett Packard laptop were stolen from my flat on Friday May 1st 2009, Kenilworth Manor, Harold's Cross Rd.

That gear is my livelihood. Reward offered, more than pawnshops would offer, to anyone returning it, especially the basses, no questions asked!

    Please contact me here.

Will keep an eye out for any of that gear, it'd be best to remove your mobile number though, you don't know who'd be calling you!

What year was the jetglo? My brother sent me a picture of a jetglo for sale for €1000 the other day. I'm not sure what site he saw it on (I'll find out). It was a 70's one.

Anyways, I'll keep an eye out for the other ones. Have you got pics???

Please don't post contact details. I'll sticky this thread for a month.

The Rickenbacker is a 2007, Jetglo (black with white pickguard), perfect condition, 1 little ding on the back where neck joins body. It was in a black plastic Rickenbacker hard case.

The Fender Precision is a 1971, classic sunburst, tortoise pickguard, quite scuffed up, especially on the back middle where there's a huge belt rash. It was in a black padded soft case with straps.

The pictures were in the stolen laptop, but they're standard colors.

Thanks so much for the reply!

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye out for them.

Make sure you watch the buy & sell, gumtree.ie, ebay, adverts.ie and wherever else you can think of. Also go round the guitar shops and give them a headsup.

Do you have the serial numbers? (don't post them... just asking, as you'll need them)
Also, if you haven't already... report it to the Gardai.

I do have the serial numbers if required. The Gardai are on it too as best as they can. Tell me if shouldn't post this. Thanks for all!

I live in that estate - Kenilworth Manor next to Kenilworth Motors. Was your house broken into and robbed?

I moved in Thursday night. Friday around 5 p.m. I left the front bedroom window slightly open to air the place out and went to work. I came back around 2 a.m. and my 2 basses and 2 laptops were missing. Police took prints off the window. Did you see or hear anything?

Are you on the ground floor? Unfortunately I didn't hear or see anything but will definitely check with the person I live with just in case. Did you go door to door and ask the neighbors?

I live on the ground floor at #23. I didn't ask the neighbours anything yet, but maybe i should. I'm trying to email radio stations as i heard they might be of help...

You should check with neighbors just in case they saw or heard anything! Crazy I thought the estate was fairly safe!

Good advice. Police said there's a rise in crime and the area is affected. The thieves were just trolling the neighborgood for such opportunities. Thanks for your support...

Ah man that sucks my band has played some gigs around and two mics of ours got nicked in places

nightmare - there have been bikes nicked from outside our door there during the day and even a jacket that was on the Bannister in the hall - while we were in the house!! but that was a long time ago - i have been there 7 years myself.

The person you should notify is on the ground floor - the first door you see as you come up the drive with the grey car outside. literally just before you cross the barricades to get into the car park and your apartment. She is the lady that manages the whole place, so maybe ask her...i dunno what else...

I was in on Friday night myself but heard nowt.. but im on the first floor and im closest to the road so it would be a stretch....

I hope you get them bud.

Thanks for your encouragement. I also heard that the girl at #28, up the stoop from me towards the barrier, had a late night party on May 1st, so i'll ask her too...

    Some options:
    • Guitars are pretty damn big so they arent likely to go too far with them. Go to all the local pawn shops you can or even call and offer them a few quid if they callwhen someone brings them in.
    • Similarly, try the local taxi companies. These knackers are less to have wheels.
    • Stick a few posters up around your area. Even if its only photos of a very similar one. Leaflet drop your neighbours. At the very least its a public service for them to be more secure& vigilant.
    • Keep an eye on all the classified sites, local papers, herald and your local supermarket board. Maybe even put upan ad saying electric guitar wanted and pretend to be buying.
    • Try taking a few pics of the guitars in to the cops so they can have a look. We all know alot of them are lazy sods who can't read but they love pictures. Maybe even do a cartoon one for them :-P
    • Without trying to scare you...you are more likely to be broken into if you have been before so take some security measures. And make them visible ones. Maybe ask the landlord to change locks or offer to go half with him. Have a walk around the house yourself and see how you'd attempt to get in. Get one of your mates to do it too (dodgiest one you have! :-)
If all else fails, make the most of an expensive but valuable lesson
    Good luck!!

Send a message around to some guitar techs as well, just in case it comes through their hands sometime in the future...
