    WTF?

It's about time High School Musical 3 got some recognition after being so cruelly over looked by the Academy.

I also hope Vin Diesel wins Best Actor as he is the best actor in the world by miles.

Watch the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards (although admittedly they acknowledge they are appealing to kids, but it is still painful to watch the likes of Will Ferrell involved).
And Miley Cyrus wins everything to boot.

.... and they say there's no good roles for women! Would love to see Jolie beat Winslet.

I know they have to spread nominations as wide as possible to get as many stars in as possible... but jeepers ... it's a bit much.

I feel angry and confused at that list.

Why did they randomly throw in decent nominations?

(But at least Sarah Silverman isn't hosting it)

The Oscars (usually) give awards to movies/actors that manage to do something more than make a bunch of pubescent teens go WOOOOOOOOO.

Ben Stiller will take home the MTV Movie Awards' highest accolade at this year's ceremony - he will receive the Generation Award for his laughter-packed Hollywood career.

The Meet The Parents funnyman has been named as the recipient of the honour in recognition of giving cinema-goers some of the funniest characters of the last decade, including Zoolander, Gaylord Focker and Tugg Speedman.

Stiller kicked off his career with his own MTV series in the early 1990s, which was subsequently cancelled after one season.

But the actor remembers his time at the channel fondly, even joking he romanced veteran MTV presenter J.J. Jackson.

He says, "I am honoured to be getting the Generation Award. I was given my first show at MTV and also cancelled for the first time. I also was secretly having an affair with J.J. Jackson, so it brings back pleasant memories."

Stiller joins a stellar list of previous winners of the Generation Award, including Tom Cruise, Jim Carrey, Adam Sandler and Mike Myers.

The Golden Popcorn prizes, nominated and voted for by MTV viewers, will be handed out in Los Angeles on 31 May.

    Condescending douche reply.

What I think he meant is how the Oscars are predictable, formulaic and always follow a pattern for the most part in the type of films nominated to the point that they have no become a circle jerk amongst Hollywood and don't really have the statute and rub that they once did.

And I'd agree with him. The awards are fairly biased. That said I tend to watch the MTV awards in full while only catching highlights of the Oscar speeches due to its laid back attitude and not taking itself so seriously. It's just a bit of fun but ultimately pointless, much like the Oscars themselves.

You watch the MTV awards in full and yet you have the audacity to call me a douche.

    Irony much?

The MTV awards are the most bland, insipid, mind numbingly retarded movie awards there are.

The Oscars may have become a bit of a joke of late but to even mention them in the same breath is frankly ridiculous.

    Get a grip child.

The Dark Knight for every nom it got, one thing MTV can do is acknowledge when a film deserves awards just cause it's friggin deadly!

After that, Miley and the HSM w**kers for everything else. Would absolutely love if Springsteen were able to show up though, it'd be hilarious! (Unfortunately he's on tour, no wait, that's a good thing!!)

Cant wait for this, love the skits they do and Andy Samberg is great! As for the awards themselves, meh, they're a light-hearted affair tbh not be taken seriously, I mean it's not a proper awards really it's a popularity contest just like every other MTV awards ceremony.

I'm going to watch them, simply for the New Moon clip, I want to see if they've destroyed it as much as they killed Twilight. But in all fairness, I am a pubescent teenage girl, so of COURSE I'm a raging Twilight fan girl, who loves Rob Pattinson and wants him to bite her (no, that's my friend.), and of course I think Kristen Stewart is the best actress in the world!

*cough* hell no. *cough* While Rob Pattinson is a good actor, I've given Kristen a nickname I could be banned for repeating, and hate her acting. The 'sparkles' looked like Rob was sweating, and I could see the lumps of chicken on Cam's neck. There was no way that movie was amazing. It was average, at best. But I do like the books, in that they're my guilty pleasure.

Although Paramore deserve the best song award, I love Decode.

Yeah she seems like she has a massive rod stuck up her backside tbh, she just pouted throughout the whole show.

Andy was quite funny, the Eminem moment with bruno was funny because everyone thought it was real and Zac Efron was sort of confused when his name was called cause Eminem was storming out. Now that's some good PR for someone with a new album out :)

Must say the funniest moment for me was JJ Abrams keyboard solo, I lol'd.

Those bloody Twilight kids couldn't have looked anymore depressed if they tried, good god crack a smile ffs you just won like 5 awards!

Eminem is confirming that his surprise run-in with Brüno at the MTV Movie Awards was a pre-arranged stunt.

"Sacha [Baron Cohen] called me when we were in Europe and he had an idea to do something outrageous at the Movie Awards," he told RapRadar.com. "I'm a big fan of his work so I agreed to get involved with the gag."

In their staged Sunday gag, a thong-clad, be-winged Brüno was lowered — thong-first — onto Eminem's face. The music artist appeared to get angry and stormed out of the auditorium.

Eminem enjoyed being the butt of the joke: "It had so many people going 'nuts' so to speak," he said. "Everyone was blowing me up about it. After the ceremony I went back to my hotel and laughed uncontrollably for about three hours."

I'll admit i thought it was real :o

Why was Kiefer Sutherland presenting Stiller's award

Although Paramore deserve the best song award, I love Decode.
what the hell is up with ppl slagging off Kristen's acting. She's one of the best young actresses out there. Ppl are just too used to Jessica Simpson and all those disney kids to recognise good, realistic acting. She actually looks like she has a brain unlike the rest of them.

The Eminem skit was funny as hell. Miley Cyrus caused me to want to want to scratch my eyes out as usual and her beating the Boss ...come on!!!! She didnt even look embarrassed to get it. At least the Twilight kids looked embarrassed cos they know its a popularity contest. But whatever its a public vote so its obviously what the people chose. Miley Cyrus though !!!!!

It's quite simple why people don't like KStew's acting. She blinks, and sighs, and has two facial expressions. Bored, and BORED. That's it. I don't think that she should have been cast as Bella, there's so many other young actresses who would have fit the part, like Sophie Vavasseur or Sarah Bolger, or even Emma Watson (who I'm not a huge fan of).

I agree with you about Eminem. I don't like him, but it was hilarious! And I totally agree about Miley Cyrus *glowers*

    "And the winner is...Twilight!"

It seemed to win an award for fookin' everything. Yer one from it won best actress over Kate Winslet in 'The Reader', ffs!

And as for 'Twilight' is a better film than 'The Dark Knight'? Ask the back of me sack!:mad::mad:

What a fuppin' joke. The whole event was merely used to showcase the hilarity of Andy Samberg.

The only good thing was the appearance of 'Keyboard Cat'! :D
