Tele with F hole

I'm not sure if the chambering goes through the whole guitar, so it doesn't really count as a true semi-hollow body. The tone isn't radically different as a result. Someone might want to clarify this though.

I've played both the 69 and the 72 Thinline models myself. Personally, I didn't like the shiny poly coated neck and fretboard. I found it a little uncomfortable to play on the glossed surface. I'm also not a big fan of vintage style frets on maple fretboards. That's just me. You might love it though!

The pickups were also a weak point on the 69 Thinline. It's a simple enough change though if they're not to your tastes.

In terms of tone, you can expect a reasonable difference to the classic Tele tone if you go for one with a mahogany body. The ash body is closer to your taditional Tele sound, obviously.

For what it's worth, I think they're super cool but maybe a little overpriced for what you're actually getting.

There are also Fender Japan versions floating about, which might tickle your fancy. Apparently their construction isn't true to the originals though. But personally, I wouldn't give a fig about that.

Yeah I'd seen a lot of negativity about the pickups online, I don't mind replacing them if they aren't great, nothing better than a good guitar project... except playing... I suppose. :p

I agree that they look cool, but it's gotta have a proper tele sound to be worth it, but a slight difference might be cool too. Just not a radical change from a standard, love that tele twang

A friend of mine has a 72' thinline, beautiful little guitar, great sound, has lots of twang but not as defined as a regular tele you can imagine. Not in a bad way, just slightly different.

Personally I love it, would buy one myself if I wasn't broke!

Got this instead, was being sold as a Mecican standard, but I've never seen one in that colour so is it something else?262184412_tp.jpg

Not sure, its hard to see. It could be a factory special run or maybe a baja tele?

I'm pretty stumped, I thought at first it was a Nashville deluxe, but that has 3 pickups so ???

Oh well... if it's a standard I'm happy, if it's better, bonus!

Serial is MZ8122168 if that helps... not doing much to help me though!

If that's the serial number then it's definitely Mexican.

Now to figure out if it's a standard or not.

Probably doesn't matter all that much anyway

Not really. How much did it cost?

Looks like an ash bodied factory special run Standard.

    Solid choice.
