I saw that on TV around Easter I think, I have to say anyone who does that I would take my hat off to, it would be a great achievement.

How long did it take you?

It makes Gaelforce West look like a creche!!

I did it in 2h38. But they did close one of the biggest obstacles due to 600 people getting hypothermia, so I missed out on that section. Will prob do another winter one, just to complete it 'properly'. But the summer one should be a laugh. I wouldnt see it as tougher than gaelforce, it just requires different aspects of fitness (and a small measure of insanity :p)

Was that the one with the fire track??? Looking at the pics there on flickr there is a massive variation of fitness/age etc.

The fire looks a lot worse than it is. Yeah, all sorts try it, I mean, I was hardly fit when I signed up, but I was aware of what I was getting into, and worked for it. Many arent prepared and get in bother. It is bloody tough, mostly because of the cold. But they are tightening up on it cos so many people were failing, or getting hurt through lack of fitness. As with all events, you *could* complete it without being terribly fit, given enough time, but you wouldnt do it very well, and youre more likely to hurt yourself or have to drop out if youre not prepared.

In the middle of the lake, with legs that wouldnt hold me up and unable to talk from cold, I did kinda wonder why I was there. But sure once I warmed up again (4-6 hours later) I wanted to sign up for the next one. If youre into that kind of thing, its worth doing. If you like your sport safe and risk free, maybe not. :)
