This is very complicated, and I don’t have 100% fact as I’m asking for a friend. Basically, her mother and father died when they were very small, they were raised by there grandparents in the grandparents house. Before the mom died they had relocated home from the UK and there grandmother gave them her parents home( the grandmother had 3 brothers 2 had a family but were estranged and lived in another part of Ireland) where they lived until she died, when her mom died the 5 kids moved out of there and back in with the grandparents, also living here were 3 uncles who in turn never wed.
The other house in turn became dilapidated.
The only grandchildren here grandparents had were my friend and here brothers and sisters. There was an uncle in Australia also that they never met.
Forward years and year’s later, now both grandparent’s are since dead and 3 uncles dead all making no will. And the house they all lived in was never put into anyone’s name, still remaining in the great grandparents name.. An estranged cousin of the uncle that lived in Australia and the estranged uncle now home form Australia are after telling my friend and her siblings that they have no legal right to the house they lived in with their mother until she died and that they are no legal right nor own as much as a blade of grass in there own home were they were all brought up with there now dead uncles and grandparents.
They all moved out and got married leaving only the uncles who in turn all died,The house has become dilapidated now, as has the other house where they first lived, both houses come with 8 acres of land. They are now after finding out now that the uncles cousin has applied for the land to be put into his name ~????????? Can this actually happened does anyone know if you aren’t too lost already.. Its so very sad I think, that you are not even allowed near you family home.

Tell your friend to speak to a solicitor asap. You won't find reliable legal advice on an internet forum.

Tell him to ring a solicitor TODAY. Speed will be of the essence here.
