    Hey all,

My mothers Ariston integrated fridge freezer is on the blink. Its about 7 years old so I'm not sure if its even worth getting someone out to fix it but she'd prefer to spend as little money as possible.

Does anyone know where to call to get an engineer out to have a look?
(we have no idea where the guy who put her kitchen in got it from originally)

Any opinions on whether its even worth getting fixed?

    Neil

You didn't say what is wrong.

If it's a stat, it might be worth fixing. But other than a stat, more often than not, it's either gas leakage or motor failure, neither worth fixing IMO.

he got it from a company called kitchen appliances limited (kal) now located in city west ,they used to hold the agency and supplied direct to most kitchen fitters ,which is why you dont find many shops stocking ariston

yeah sorry, I've no idea what's wrong with it. I took off the stat last night but I may as well have been looking into a bag of nettles.

No idea how to check if its working or not. Any ideas?

Have done a bit of research and its going to cost the guts of 500 quid to get a new one (integrated!), which is more than she (or I for that matter) have to spend on it.

Really don't want to pay Hotpoint 140 quid to come out to fix it in case they can't though so I'm not sure. It's 7 years old and I've been told that the life span of these things is 5-8 years max...

Shar0r, did you get this sorted in the end?

I came home last night to find that our Ariston Integrated Fridge Freezer had died too. Ive found the same as you with Ariston looking to charge €120 to come out irrespective of whether they can sort it or not. Mine's about 6 years old so probably reaching the end of its life as it is.

From what I can gather the motor is not running at all as I cant hear it. Light is working so the unit has power, but it has defrosted. Im hoping it might be as simple as a stat or relay.

Just wondering how you got on?

    Thanks,

    John

Yep got sorted thanks to Knighted_1, who I would highly recommend for this kind of job!

It was just the stat that was gone so it was a cheap fix.
