At the moment you've only four posts. You can't use the thanks button until you have 10 or 25 posts (sorry, I can't remember which).

Best thing you can do for now, I'd suggest, is to make a reply with a thanks at the end of the thread when it dies down and remember to go back and click the thanks button later if you like.
