    Hi All,

Can anyone recommend me a good pair of running shoes for someone that gets shin splints?
I am looking to buy a very good pair as I want them to last. But I need to make sure it absorbs a lot of impact.

I thought here might be a good place to ask.

I too suffer from shin splints mate and I wear the asics 21 series, now on asics 2140 for some support. You may want to get your feet checked as how bad they are pronating if that is the problem. Go to your local running shop, hopefully thay can test your feet for you. Whats good for me may not be suitable for you....
    Good luck

Go to a physio and to find out what type of shoes suits you, look at the foot of an old running shoe the worn part should indicate how you run.

Just on the subject of 2140s, I bought a pair of them recently and ended up with atrocious blisters on both heels and arches, brought them back and now use brooks gts 8s

I'd recommend a visit to a physio as I suffered from shin splints for months and went to the physio and now have orthotics which have worked wonders...

I think it's unlikely that the shoe you wear is the cause of, or will be the solution to, your shin splints.

Good idea to get a suitable pair of shoes, and hopefully someone here will be able to help you, but it could prove valuable to address the actual problem as well.

I actually ended up with Asics Kayano 15's

Most comfortable stride and impact absobtion out of the ones I tried on. Including some weird looking Nikes that looked like they could launch you into orbit.

    UGLY mofos, but damn comfortable.

have ascics kayano 14. good support and solid shoe altho they gave me blisters . but as someone said above it may well be that the shoe in itself is'nt going to be the real solution to the shin splints?

Article on shin splints in current edition of Irish Runner. Gives good basic overview on the condition and how to prevent it (although am sure similar advice available on good Internet sites).
