Damon Albarn is the greatest musician of our generation. Discuss if you will!

Yup, in 25 years time he'll be looked upon as the Special One of his generation .... and as is common with greatness, a collaborator of note.

Nice chap too .... I sold him a couple of keyboards a few years ago.

yep while other bands such as oasis are quite hit and miss you can always expect damons next project to be great

Possibly the most talented Chelsea supporter ever. His African collaborations are really good.

Arfs. The words 'greatest musician' and 'Damon Albarn' in the same sentence. I can see what you've done there.

Very much underrated imo. Been a fan since Modern Life is Rubbish. Hope there's some new material from Blur soon. Good the Bad and the Queen is superb.

    Is he f*ck!

That accolade belongs to Matt Bellamy (Most innovative and original guitarist/pianist of the last 10 years)

give me a break. Muse are boring as hell after listening to a couple of songs. They are more about pyrotechnics than music nowadays.

Damon is a genius. Up there with Greenwood and Yorke, Jack White and a few others from our generation in my opinion.

I think the tag 'muse are only radiohead wannabies' is much deserved. Totally overrated band, imo.

Matt is indeed a fabulous musician, I especially enjoyed Muse when he used to skip between guitar and piano live without missing a beat, and he's a fabulous technical player.

On examination you'll find a lot of Muse's output relies on a few musical tricks, arpeggios being the most obvious.

However whilst Damon is no virtuoso he uses a much bigger palette of sounds and influences and actual musical instruments as well as the most modern and not so modern technology.

This alone doesn't necessarily mean he's better, but does have a much wider sphere of influences to build work from.

His output would also have a much broader musical range than Muse in my opinion.

damon is the only songwriter in modern times that can write songs from genre to genre and still make them sound excellent

Quite the opposite in my view. I always admired Blur's earlier stuff up until the late 90's by which time you could not escape talk of Blur and Albarn. And that was 10 years ago!

Beastie Boys can still do it.

But I do agree that Alburn is very very talented. Think Tank is an album that for me is miles above all of Radiohead's "experiments" and Clint Eastwood is one of the best songs of the decade
