Would love to hear from anyone who does Yoga themselves and has tried it. what is your opinion of it.....
    Thanks All. :)

Never tried the yoga myself, but have seen it done. If you follow the virtual man on screen to the letter then it's good, according to my sister :P Only thing i've tried myself is the push up thing, did 10 pushups and it said i was, and i quote, "a muscle legend". When i saw that i said "i've had enough" and i let my nephews resume their tight rope walking!

Well I'm assuming with Yoga you follow the video and dont use the board too much

If so, then it should be just as good - copying the movements

But the board is a loada crap

This is exactly what is wrong with the world today

Sure, it might be a great game, maybe even a good workout, but when people start to call a computer game GOD, its time to dust off my pitchfork and bible, call up the Youth Defence and start up a bonfire!

The board measures your stability in the pose in the Yoga bit.

It's like anything else really, doing a workout on the Wii Fit is better than doing no workout at all. The aerobic stuff (especially the boxing and step) seem good and because it's fun and in the privacy of your own home you're probably more likely to do it and develop an exercise habit. Keeps a good track of weight loss / gain as well.

Is it as good as a proper gym / class, with instructors? No.

Is it better than sitting on the couch and eating crisps? Yes.

as a yoga teacher - go do a class and there are tons available in every area

No I meant GOD. pml. joking.
    Yes I think its gOOd.

CAtch with doing clases is my hubby works all sorts of hours and with 3 kids ive no babysitter! :(
I might get some videos and work them all in tandem. would that be sufficient?
I suppose I need someone there at the end of the day to tell me straighten up etc etc.

PS was using the boars. But now I can see why it would be crap!

I go to Yoga (Ashtanga), and I must say that the Wii isn't much use really.
The one thing it does not do is emphahsise how important breathing is, and the type of breathing you need to do.

I would say that getting your breathing correct is the major factor in Yoga, and this does not come across from the Wii. The moves are more like workout exercises that any proper Yoga positions. It's ok for fitness, and a bit of fun, but I think it really misses the important things that makes Yoga different to just getting fit...

Simple, easy and fun, that's pretty much it.

I'd never even dream of going to yoga classes but had a go on the WII, it's brilliant.

Don't mind the snobbery of 'it's not even close to the real thing', great for some but having a bit of craic and getting some benefit from a few minutes at home makes it worthwhile.

The OP asked for opinions from people who actually do Yoga, so your tired old "snobbery" charge doesn't make much sense...

    Thats what I was sayin

Is Wii Fit yoga not just like a DIY-DVD??

Have you tried it out yourself in depth?

diy anything when it comes to training has limitations the primary one being proper instruction and progression on exercises.

Regarless of how good or bad Wii is it will never come close to a person face to face telling you what to do.
