Why would anyone choose UPC over sky?

Who in their right mind would choose Chorus dgital over Sky?

    (Excluding Movies and Sports)

-SKy has 6 packages to choose from, getting all 6 costs €30.50 a month and you get close to 150 channels and a free sky+ Sub.

-Chorus costs 33.50 per month (for the largest pack) and you get 20 less channels and the sky+ equivelant is 6 per month.

If you dont choose the full pack of channels sky gives you so much more choice as you can choose what packs you want that interest you.

Can anyone tell me why someone would pick Chorus NTL for digital TV?

If you're in apartments and cant put a dish up, if you're renting and cant put a dish up.
If you cant get a signal due to an obstruction in the direction the dish should face.

There are reasons for it, but yeh sky package seems much better

For a start, Chorus includes "Setanta Ireland".

And as you're asking that question, why would anyone choose Sky over FreeSat ?

Saying there are 150 channels is pointless if 90% of them are rubbish and/or repeats; many of the "channels" repeat the same programme / episode about 5 times a day.

UPC has decent broadband and cheap phone calls, No line rental needed.

    1) Live in apartment, can't put dish up.
    2) Renting, can't put a dish up.
    3) Wife, etc. doesn't like the look of dish on side of house. WAF
    4) Trees, etc. block dish reception.
    5) Sort of free multiroom (a lot of student type accommodation has the basic 17 channels in every bedroom).
    6) Cheap digital multiroom (€7.50 versus €15)
    7) EPG is a bit more Irish oriented, includes Sentata Ireland, UTV, BBC 3 & 4 etc. in an easy to use and PVR friendly manner. (yes I know most of these channels are available on Sky via FTA tuning, but that isn't user friendly or PVR friendly).
    8) Excellent, cheap TV + high speed BB + phone packages which are much cheaper then getting them separate.

Can't believe I didn't think of #7 !!! Sky's restrictive EPG is a MASSIVE pain and is as consumer-unfriendly as they come!

I mean, who in their right mind would want to know what's on now & next "Brain-dead Z-list gay celeb wedding & baby channel" and not ITV2 or BBC3 ?
