OK, NTLDR stands for NT Loader, and it helps Windows to start. Something has gone a bit wrong.

Pop in your Windows install CD (you would have got it when you bought the PC), and go for the option of entering the "Recovery Console". This will re-write NTLDR for you and allow you to boot back into Windows.

    snappieT was 90% there.

The recovery console will bring up a commandline (similar to when you open a cmd prompt from within windows). At the commandline, you need to type fixboot.

Could the machine be trying to boot from a pen drive, external HDD of CD?

Sometimes the systems BIOS is set to boot from other devices & will give the NTLDR missing error if it sees a non boo-table device first.

No joy folks, put the windows xp disc in , waited for it to load, just keep getting the NTL DR message , press ctlr alt del to restart, do that but same screen over and over again
If i keep ctrl alt delete pressed a screen comes up saying Phoenix Bios Setup and asking me to enter a password, a password of which i have no idea ?

    Anyone help me please ?

    Thank you

Unless there is an option to hold a button to choose boot device, you are going to have to remember that password.

Your pc is turning on and looking at the hd first. You need it to look at the cd first.

Or since it's donkeys years old, is there a floppy drive on it?
