Themed Music Nights

Right people i need some opinions here. I have been toying with the idea of starting theme nights in Carlow (music wise) and i was wondering would it be worth the risk. Now im talking about doing this properly eg only music for that particular era and fancy dress aswell. About 6 months ago there was an 80's night in the Seven Oaks. Fancy dress and strictly 80's muisc only. This was a fundraiser (can't remember the charity) but it was packed and it was one of the best gigs i've done. Also 4 or 5 years ago Athy rugby club organised a 70's and 80's night and it was also crammed and that was the best gig i've done. Would this be a runner on a regular basis, say once a month or would that be too much. I was thinking of 70's disco night, 60's flower power night, Rock night, 90's night etc. Also what would be a reasonable cover charge 10-5 euro?

Hard to keep anyones interest every week. I'd show up for a 70's one tho it'd be deadly! Flairs, shirt and a handle bar moustache lol Tryin to dance to Thin Lizzy and Led Zeppelin...I think I'd implode :pac:

We planned on doing something like this a couple of years ago, early 90's dance music . We had a few well known local DJ's that where very interested in it, they said would probably do it as a once off for free just for the fun of it.

We had hoped for a Nexus friday night type thing.
Same we never followed true with it in the end.

Carlow is a musical wasteland at the moment so anything slightly different would be an improvement.

True that! We had an open mic nite in the Vynal Bar about 4 or 5 years ago once a week and it was deadly. Real good atmosphere I put up a thread about finding onw but i'd say i'm gonna have te start one meself. Mite do a poll later or a thread to take names of interested parties! Sorry if im off topic
