right, i'm thinking of cycling to work... haven't been on a bike regularly in years....

it's about 8miles to work. mostly flat. looking for a good bike that can get me in quick... not a racer, never liked the handlebars.

i want to get a decent bike, there's that new biketowork scheme, so my budget could be up to a grand... but i'd say between 500 and 800 would do.

i was in a bike shop, and he recomended the globe sanfransico 2, hybrid... it's just under 500...

could anyone else offer any recomendations, advice...

    cheers

Why don't you look at one of the identical threads? A lot of people come on here asking the exact same question. I'd say a hybrid is the way to go. You're better off with smooth tyres (i.e. no threads) and no suspension.
