Found this documentary on Peter Snell from the 60's and thought it might be of interest.

Nothing ground breaking but thought it was well made and gave some nice insights into his training and Lydiards idea's.

Fascinating stuff. Some great old footage there. I like the crouch start for the half-mile early in the first clip.

What a beautifully balanced runner Snell was, though he professes he took no interest in running 'style'

And remarkable how, with the heritage of Snell, Hallberg, Walker etc and the visionary Lydiard, New Zealand are no longer on the world radar as regards athletics.

Yeah I found it interesting he said people criticised his style...he looked tremendous to me. I love the clip about 7 minutes into the first video were he's running on top of the hill against the backdrop of the sky. He looks like he's floating along.

They don't quite have the iconic athletes of before, but a gold and bronze (soon to be silver) in Beijing last year suggests they're not too far off the radar even now.

That was great! Some of the old race footage was super. He had some kick.

How amusing that he worked in advertising and promotion for the tobacco industry. :D
