Printing photos as transparencies

    Hi all,

not sure if this has been discussed previously, but I have a few photos that I think would benefit from being printed as transparencies and backlit in a frame. The aim would be to bring depth to images that might be a bit dark for regular printing.

Has anybody done this? Any recommendations about what type of 'paper' to use, or is it even effective with regular home-use inkjets?

    Cheers

How big can you print these?

I spotted a window in The Playhouse, Derry, that has a transparency, of a ballet scene, in one of their windows. Probably over a meter wide, by 1.5m high. Printed in B&W - looked fantastic!

Thanks Steve. On the basis that I'd more than likely be getting you to do the printing anyway, what's the secret? Do you have to use a special film to print on? Is it possible to use an inkjet?

yea its called backlit display film

you do have to be aware that over time it will fade, its dependent on sooooo many factors its hard to put a length, but a good few years
