Dodgy box can't get RTE

    Help - I have "The Box" and no longer can get rte2, tv3 or tg4 - my older dodgybox can get these stations .

    I have tried everything but to no avail.

    UPC/NTL is subscription cable. They are not obliged to give free RTE. Get a TV aerial for free Irish TV and dish and sat receiver for free UK TV (legitimately).

    You are stealing a service and breaking copyright, thus breaking criminal and civil law. BTW the max penalty for the Criminal conviction is only €6,000 approx but there is no limit on civil liability. Up to €180,000 + costs has been awarded against those helping setup dodgy boxes or supply of them enabled for UPC, under copyright infringement.

    We can't discuss or give any other advice as it's illegal to assist in breaking copyright or assist theft of service. Obstruction of investigation is a crime too.

    No-one on the Internet is anonymous. Even in Dublin "email scammers" using public Internet cafe were caught by Garda. With a court order, finding who made a post via Boards and then the ISP for that IP is trivial. The ISP knows who has which IP at what time.
