    The Genbukan was founded by Tanemura Sensei, he was originally a student of Hatsumi Sensei of the Bujinkan, but he left to do his own thing.

    As with most martial arts it’s effectiveness as a self defence system will depend on who is teaching it and what way that individual interprets the information available to them.

    The web site you have linked from seems to have plenty of information, I would suggest you contact them for more information.
