Wedding Venues in Cork

    Hi guys,

My fiancé and I are looking to book a wedding in Cork for 2010, and have so far been around to look at Rochestown Park Hotel. They made us a few nice discount offers, making it quite appealing, but we're also considering Midleton Park Hotel though haven't been to view it yet. :D

Has anyone been to a wedding reception at either of these two hotels? Just looking for some opinions/ experiences.

Also, any other suggestions are welcome, though preferably not the Sheraton and the like; that would ruin my budget at a minimum of €70 / head and minimum of 120 guests!! :(

Was at a wedding afters in Rochestown, 3 years ago, food wasn't anything amazing but tasty enough, the staff were great, place was really nice otherwise, been there for a number of big functions and it always goes well. :) Food might be different now with the new resturant, which is delicious nom nom:pac:

Never been to the Midleton one.

Best friend is looking at the Ambassador to get married in next Christmas, they do an offer with lots of buffet food, nice staff there too and generally they're good value for stuff, we both had a work thing there about 2 weeks ago that was around 7 a head for sandwiches/coffee/cakes, there was tons of food left over, very attentive staff who got another collegue a salad because he's coelic etc. That's the only other one I know, sorry!

The Blarney golf resort might also be worth checking out.... We are getting married this year in the rectory in Glandore.... its a lovely setting and we are only having 70 people and weren't that keen on the hotel wedding.

The rochestown park was lovely the last wedding i was at there.. think this was partly to do with knowing the couple really well.... the food and staff were lovely. Have only heard good things about Midleton Park as well... Another spot worth checking out is Barnabrow house in Cloyne....

Thanks for the suggestion :) We went for a look around this hotel, as well as the Midleton Park and Garryvoe and out of all (incl Rochestown) we both loved the Blarney Golf Resort and are booking it this week.

The wedding co-ordinator there is really lovely and she made some great offers to help seal the deal. The golf lodges there are also really great for guests, particularly as my family will all be travelling from the UK, and my fiancés family all have to come down from Dublin -- those lodges mean they can stay 4 people to a 4* lodge for only around €25 a head each night!

Some of the other hotels had sky high accomodation rates for guests, which was a factor that put me off.

    So yeah, thanks again :D

Give Carlton House in Kinsale a go. Lovely spot. I know a customer who went there and they gave her free corkage (after a bit of haggling) so they sound keen for the business.

We're definitely going with the Blarney Golf Resort now; my fiancé and I both loved it.

I had a look at the Carlton website a while ago, but €100 per person sharing accomodation is far too high when all our family are travelling to this. There will be several families of 4-5 coming, and asking them to pay that much is crazy. The Blarney Golf Resort lodges work out at around €25 / head which will allow a lot more of the guests to be hotel residents and hence avail of the residents bar until 4am after the party officially ends ;)
