Glad to see Chuck moved into the "fair" ctegory. I pray its kept...

Of last year's bubble shows, Friday Night Lights has already been renewed (for 2 years I think)

Prison Break is probably the biggest cut (although the cut was obvious...)

I hope Reaper and Dollhouse get kept on.

From the already cut list, I'm disappointed that pushing daisies got cut.

Showtime have pretty much dropped it. It jsut wasn't doing the numbers they needed to justify keeping it on. As far as I know the last episode wraps it up pretty much well. I really must get cracking on season 3.

90210 and Gossip Girl are 100% coming back...Privleged is dodgy as The CW have this Twlight ripoff in the form of Vampire Diaries on stream, add to that they have Melrose Place...it's a pity as Privleged is a great show!

Heroes is100% coming back, 18-20 episodes....nice to see Southland getting a second 13 episode run. That list they compiled is pretty pants....full of errors.

They have both 90210 and Gossip Girl as officially renewed. House has yet to be officially renewed but it's a given that it wil return. The list is pretty sinmiliar to the other lists out there regarding the renewal of shows.

As it stands Boston Legal, Crusoe, Dirty Sexy Money, Eli Stone, King of the Hill, Life on Mars, My Own Worst Enemy, Prison Break and Pushing Daisies are all more deserving of another season than 90210, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill and at least half of the confirmed returning shows.

I've always been hopeful for a third season since Salvation is almost sure to be a huge box office draw it would give the series a real bump and Fox would be able to easily market it to people who enjoyed the film.

But different networks have different resources and different needs. Not really fair comparing the CW to the Big 4

Not compaing the networks merely pointing out that there are many far more deserving shows being cancelled before their time while unoriginal toss like 90210 and The Hills continue to be brought back time after time.

Season 3 started off brilliantly then just went boring midway with drawn-out uninteresting storeys and then rallied towards the end. The ending does tie up the ends, but it's a show that could have some great potential and Jason Isaacs performances were great.

Not looking good for Dollhouse and Reaper by that list. :(
Reaper's ratings aren't that bad (or that good)- the big issue, as far as I can determine, is that the show's producers are leaving it to work on other projects and Tyler Labine (Sock, many people's favourite) is looking set to get work elsewhere. These could be enough to kill it off.

I wanna update a specific channel as i watch alot of ABC Family channel shows: Kyle XY - cancelled, MASSIVE mid season finale...very sad, fans up in arms!....they pulled it 3 episodes into a 10 ep. run....i wouldn't mind but it's ratings went WAY up from seaon 3 ep. 5 onwards!

The Secret Life Of The American Teenager, channels biggest hit to date!...Trouncing Gossip Girl in the ratings!!, renewed, full 24 episode run and returns for 12 ep. in early July. Lincoln Heights...i don't watch it but it's doing well.

Fourth season starts in August, ABC Family have picked up two new shows "10 Things I Hate About You", ergo Julia Stiles movie for TV...no brainer what this is about. Larry Miller returns as the Original dad.

Another show is based (it seems) on the 2006 movie, Stick It (which i liked)...set around gymnastics and girls and Olympics etc. Greek...renewed, third season playing right now for 10 episodes and returns again in September for another 10.

Pity that Dollhouse is in the poor category. I'm really getting into that show. I thought TtSCC had been cancelled already - hopefully it makes the cut. Delighted Supernatural is renewed - great show.

NBC will announce it's fall lineup at 1pm ET today, US...thats what, 6pm here?

Terminator would have been cancelled long ago but Fox kept it on due to Salvation's imminient release. It is believed that should Salvation be a success a 3rd series will follow. I've only watched a few episodes of S2 but I loved S1. The shoot out and the pool remains one of my all time television moments, plus any series starring Garret Dillahunt instantly gets a pass in my books.

Cant believe Prison Break is cancelled and 90210 lives on. Its one of the best shows on TV. It deserves another season.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

The CW is not a major channel and they have a different viewer demographic, which is why low rated shows such as 90210 and Gossip Girl survive. Example, latest ep. of 90210 had 1.8m viewers....the big 4 would can a show with ratings like that. But it's different for The CW...add to that both shows sell very well overseas and it's target demographic (young girls) have disposable income, advertisers love this segment.

Woot!...ABC Family's sitcom "Roommates" has been axed, thank god!

I don't know if The CW see much of the money from oversee sales TBH. It looks like the CW are change their format and as you say going for a more female market, The WB was an urban teenage market while UPN went for an African-American/youth/urban market. I think the merger want to capitalize on the different viewers available to both channels, I don't think it has worked.

And add another to the "Please don't cancel Dollhouse" list. Not looking great though :(

I think "Community" looks pretty good and "Mercy" has potential if they do it right.

Day One looks like it could be good. Community could potentially be ok but we've to wait and see how they do it.

I love how bad the first impressions of Trauma make it seem
First Impressions: It feels like Michael Bay got hold of this medical drama that's filled with explosions, running scenes, people screaming at each other and car wrecks, although the strong characters help ground the action.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,330 ✭✭✭✭Dodge

I'll watch anything with Chevy Chase in it so at the very least I'll give that a go.

Very hard to get a handle on the drama/serial type shows based a one paragraph blurb and 5 minutes of footage

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 21,634 ✭✭✭✭Richard Dower

TBH...i have a strong feeling Trauma will be a hit, for those exact same Michael Bay reasons....but, it's just a promo trailer. Community does look interesting, 100 Questions is clearly a ripoff of How I Met Your Mother...which i loathe.

    More renewals and pickups.....
Variety reports that Fox has renewed Joss Whedon's "Dollhouse" for a second season. The show has secured a 13-episode order and is likely to continue airing on Friday night.

Fox on Friday also picked up comedy "Brothers" to series with a 13 episode-order.

Meanwhile, ABC has renewed "Castle," "Scrubs" and "Better Off Ted." The network has given the green light to the murder mystery pilot "Happy Town" and an untitled legal ensemble show from writer Dave Hemingson. It's also given the go-ahead to the remake of sci-fi drama "V" as a limited series and the Courteney Cox-starring comedy "Cougar Town."

The networks will announce their fall primetime line-ups next week.

    Delighted if it comes through.

edit: actually there's tonnes of sources out there, it definitely looks good.

edit 2: and I just saw everyone else talking about it on the Dollhouse thread.....

Bones has been picked up for 2 more seasons.
Capping one of the upfront season's most prolonged back-and-forths over the licensing fee paid by the network to the studio, Fox has decided to renew Bones — for a fifth and sixth season.

Executive producer Hart Hanson announced the pick-up on Saturday, via his Twitter account. Later, Hanson confirmed that Fox had ordered not just one but two more seasons.

Bones likely will be paired on Thursday nights with So You Think You Can Dance, which this year will be launching a fall season veritably on the heels of this summer's cycle.

Bones joins Lie to Me, Fringe, Dollhouse and 24 as Fox's officially announced returning dramas for the 2009-10 TV season.
