Sky+ for 3 months, possible to upgrade to HD?

    As the subject says, I've got Sky+ for about 3/4 months now, but becuase I've bought a HD TV, the idea of getting Sky HD is appealing. Will Sky upgrade my box (Does it need a new dish?) even though I haven't completed my 12 month contract, and if they do, any idea of how much they would charge?

    That's handy -- all that needs to be done is to replace your current decoder with a Sky+ HD box. If you want to use the Sky+ box in another room, however, you'll need to have one or two cables routed to it.

    You don't need a new dish. You may need a new LNB (the large blob to which the cable connects). If the one there has four (or more) outputs, then that means even less for the installer to do.

    Can't give any estimations of cost although the Sky+ HD box does seem to be heavily subsidised now. You still have to pay an extra charge for the HD channels, on top of your current subscription.

    The upgrade will cost you €49 for the Hd box and €50 for the install despite the fact there is nothing much to be done apart from plug in the box and repair the card.

    However there are 2 things that you should take into account.

    1. As your contract is less than 12 months old the sky + box could be taken away as it only becomes yours after 12 months but this is unlikely to happen,


    2. Your monthly bill will increase by €14.75 a month for the Hd Subscription pack.

    But if you can afford the extra few quid a month I think its well worth your while as the picture quality on Hd is amazing in my opinion and you will have double the record time on the HD box..
