Is it possiblle??? I mean the sound from the little box is just excellent.
Our rehearsal room has a nice PA system and every gig we ever play we always use a hired PA so wouldn't it be feasable? By just mic'ing it with an SM57 or somethin'. :) I'm gonna give it a shot but has anyone had any success doing it before?

always wondered this myself but im my experience the cube sounds better at low volumes....maybe its just mine though!

I dont see why it shouldnt be feaseable, i mean its the same as micing up any other amp. Seasick steve uses a cube 30 on stage and mics that up so i cant see the micro cube being any different.

Ive done it - Played a gig in the mezz with the good old microcube, and that was in a Loud electro band with two guitarists and a full kit! I ran it clean with an overdrive pedal on it. The overdrives on the cube sound like crap through a PA. It didnt sound the worst. But it worked in principle..

Did you mic it or use the headphone out?

Headphone out if I remember correctly. It would be pointless to mic it i think..

No, I'd say the distortion would sound a lot better if you miced it.

It's hard to know with a modelling amp, but any regular amp will almost always sound better miced (properly) than directly injected. A headphone out is not the right impedence for a line input, does it have a line out?

Yeah my sentiments exactly. The sound of the amp is just lovely at an audible level comparable to the human voice...so it should be possible? BTW the little cube doesn't have a line out. I'm just thinking that if my Dr Z died....I'll say that again ....DR Z.... :D at a gig I could get away with the cube mic'd for the rest of the gig.??

Unless the PA is underpowered for the space and there are headroom issues in the poweramp(s), it's not a problem at all. My first instinct would be to mic it rather than messing around with a headphone output.

ah yeah...I wouldn't have gone with the headphone o/p at all. The PA is high powered so it shouldn't present any probs hopefully. BTW on a passing note my main amp is a MAz 38 combo with 2 speakers....a vintage 30 and a G12H ...which lad is better for micing up?

I've heard of people using the Microcube as a backup thru a PA, some liked it. I've finally gotten my recording setup in order so I'm gonna see if I can record from the Microcube line out this evening. Well, I'll be able to... whether it sounds good or not is another story. :D

Dord I wouldn't bother mate...I've tried it before from the headphone out years ago and it sounded crap :) Try micing it instead and then you can post the clip if you wish ;)

I've been thinking about this, so last night i fitted a speaker output jack and a cut switch for the internal 4" speaker of my cube. Basically turned it into a head. Fitted them on the mesh grille in front of the small sound hole.I plugged it into the 2x12 on my tsl 602. I can use the cube 4" & 2x12 together it sounds a lot fuller & balanced at all volumes the 2X12 on its own sounds very muddy at low volumes but brightens up nicely at high volumes & really opens up the great sounds you can get out of these. It's a big improvement on the 4" at higher volumes I have a spare 12" celestion that i'll make a cab for it wont be as muddy at lower volumes. I'm happy with the overall result though!

It's impossible to say - you'd have to try both and see. You might even find the preference varies from situation to situation. If I was in a position where experimenting was not an option, I'd default to the G12H, but that's purely because I'm more familiar with micing it.

    I've both in the 2 X 12.
On listening tests the V30 gives more mids and "sizzle" to it.
The G12H has more defined lows, a bit more on top too, and is smoother/more even sounding than the V30.

Haven't miked them up yet but I presume they should come across similarily if you do a good miking job, it's up to which you prefer.

    The G12H is better.

    I paraphrased you. :pac:
