Ryanair - One bag and online check-in?

Possibly a very straight forward question, but I booked a flight a while ago with this option of checking in one bag and online check in, but how exactly does that work? Don't you still have to queue up at the airport to physically check in your bag? It's €5 cheaper than 'One bag and Airport check in', but I'm wondering won't it still involve depositing your bag at the desk as I can't remember FR having those bag drop desks.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Are you flying from Dublin? If so, there is a new "Bag-Drop" desk that everyone flying with Ryanair queues up for to check-in bags. You no longer go to the check-in desk, to drop them off.

I don't know about other airports, just Dublin. Open to correction if I'm wrong, hope this helps.

I know in Stansted they have nothing but drop desks for luggage. Airport check in is now using a little terminal type thing which prints off your boarding card. Then you drop it in your designated bag drop zone.
I think in Shannon they set up 1/2 desks as bag drops. I'm sure it's the same in Dublin. You could always phone where you are flying from to clarify

Thanks guys. I didn't realise Ryanair had opened bag-drop desks in any airport. That's cool. And you say they have those self-service kiosks in Stansted now, Cleeo? That'll be handy.

This particular flight is from Shannon-Stansted, so I was wondering in particular about Shannon, what the story was when you've checked in online but have a bag. I presume so that there must be a bag drop there too.

How weird, I just came in here to ask exactly the same question. We are looking to fly from Dublin to Stansted and I wanted to check one case in. So, you just check in on line as normal? How do you then get the labels for your bags so that they don't get lost?

Going by what the others have said, you'd get the labels at the bad-drop desks as per normal. You just skip the whole queing to show your flight confirmation/passport part.

but aparently there can be ques for the drop off aera, so leave plenty of time. i guess it depends what time your flying aswell if it very early in the morn the place will be crazy busy.

Yes, remember the desks have to be manned because they still have to ask you questions about the contents(security questions) and of course try to catch you out by weighing your bag.

Its not simply a drop off area where you sling your bags onto a trolley.
