Hi, basically my gf is 7 months pregnant now, and we're getting on great and everything, sorting out all that needs sorting out and so on... but unfortunately I'm still in college and currently studying for exams starting this week.

Now the thing is that I really need to study so I'll not be able to see her as often as usual but I think this is going to be really hard on her, I try to spend as much time as possible with her (I'm still living at home and she's moved out of home years ago) but I just feel so helpless now. I really want to be able to keep her in good spirits and give her hugs and kisses whenever I can but I have to study a lot now. It just sucks for timing yet I know that if I don't pass these exams it could really affect our ability to afford a house and so on in the future.

I just feel caught in the middle of a horrible situation. I really want to look after her and everything but I need to study too. I just feel that at this stage she needs as much support from me as she can get. BAH! I don't know what to do.

It is absolutely lovely that you are thinking of your girlfriend so much BUT...she is a grown woman and as a grown woman she knows how important your exams are to both of your futures.

The timing is indeed a bit rubbish, but unless she is a monster you know that she accepts this fully and wants you to do the best that you possibly can. I'm sure the last thing that she wants is to think that you are stressing yourself out even more over these exams because of her. I'm sure that she knows well that she has your support anyway.

Does she have friends and family around her? If so, the you can rest assured that she is not alone. You could always express your concerns to them and I am sure that they will be quick to reassure you as well. Yes, pregnancy is obviously a big deal, but women have been coping with it for years and it's not like she's suffering from a serious illness or anything like that. More of your presence would be lovely, but she can easily make do without it. If given the option of more time with you now, or more security in the future, you can bet she would pick future security as that is more important for both her and your child!

So relax. Giving her your support doesn't mean that you have to be with her every minute of the day. As long as you talk to her every day and see her when you can, all the time reminding her how excited you are about the baby, then you are doing brilliantly. And congratulations as well!

You should tell her everything you've told us :)
