    Hi all,
every time I start my pc I get a load of writing before it starts up and says something about "bad block" and I have to press F2 to actually start it up.Does this mean I need a new hard drive? And i noticed pc running bad so I iniatialised a disk check next re boot, and did this cause the problem or only find the problem?

sorry if its not too clear but as I said Im a newbie....thanks

when exactly do you get the messege. is it during the first 10 secs or after the windows symbol comes up?

Whether or not you need a new HDD depends on how many bad blocks there are. Getting the system to run CHKDSK is what found the problem yes. What exactly does the message say?

Did you run chkdsk with the /f parameter?

The /f attempts to fix any problems detected during the check.
