    Hi all,

Anyone able to offer input on the best rounds for a CZ .22 magnum? I zeroed it with Hornady 30 gr v-max, but would like to try other rounds. My main victim is a fluffy bunny and the odd sheet of paper stuck to a ditch. Also, pardon my ignorance, but what are subs? Are these just to be used with a silencer? Speaking of which, I'm hoping to get one for the CZ, any recommendations? So many questions, so little time!!!!!

    Thanks a million

i have never seen subs for a .22 magnum not sure you can get them .

i have a (sak )on my cz.22lr they will quieten the high velocity rounds but the subs are unbelievably quite

subs are bullets that are traveling less than the speed of sound as they leave the gun and dont break the sound barrier. "subsonic ".

I have a Marlin 25mn .22 wmr, I have just started using Federal 50 grain, they are a heavy slow round at 1650fps. I think those 30 grainers are travelling at 2200fps. By the way have you tried taking any foxes with them?
I used the federals before about 5 yrs ago and I found them to be deadly accurate. So I'm looking forward to trying them again. I paid €12 a box at John O'Briens in Waterford, not a bad price.
Before that I used the Winchester super x's and found them alright as well.
I tend to buy whatever I can get my hands on coz you can't seem to get the rounds you want all the time.

    Hi deeksofdoom,

What kind of groups are you getting with the 50 gr? Didn't try any fox yet, I only got the scope mounted last week, so i'll leave them alone until September. But i'm assured the 30's will do the trick out to about 80-100 yds (With a well placed shot). At €22 a box they are a little on the steep side. What do you think of John to deal with? I bought the mag from him.

I've had a 22 mag for years Always found CCI maxi mag +v 30 grain a super all rounder.I buy them for 17 quid a box.Dont use the magnum for foxes anymore but when i did the CCI's worked out to 100/120 yards no problem with good shot placement.

30g v-max is ideal for bunny bashin if your accurate enough to get head shots. "Subs" are known as subsonic ammunition which I have never seen available for the .22 mag. They are however very common for .22lr ** THEY ARE VERY DIFFERENT CALIBRES** Whatever you do , DO NOT try .22lr ammo in a .22mag rifle. If you can get decent accurate groups with the ammo you have the rifle zeroed with then dont change ! I wouldnt try any heavier rounds unless you intend on shooting foxes, you will also have to re-zero every time you change ammo brands or weights. If your getting accurate shots with what your shooting then dont change ;)
