Hi all, if the moderator considers this to be in the wrong place please move.

My daughter has been attending a consultant recently. The medical condition is irrelevant in this case. What is relevant is that on a scale of one to five with five being the most severe ahe is a four and we were told by the consultant that the sooner (shes a toddler) she gets the issue addressed the better.

We discussed the issues surrounding the condition with the consultant and the treatment plan and went away assuming that things would move along as per the conversation.

Radio silence from the medics office, nothing, nix, nada for a month and a half. Rang up and left a message and his secretary gets back to me to tell me 12 monthys plus for her to receive this procedure. What?????

"I was just in with the consultant over a month ago and he's telling me we should proceed as soon as possible"

"Well, he's very busy......limited time slots.....best in his field etc etc"

We have insurance and I made it quite clear that money was not a problem to the consultant at the previous meetings. Whats money compared to your childs health?

The upshot of it is we have kicked up blue murder about this.

The upshot of it the consultant agreed it was relatively urgent, blamed the system and then proceede to asure us she'd get seen within the next month or so.

Well folks, whether it's private or public the heath system in this country is a joke. To have to put up with this type of rubbish for your plumbing or your tax return would be bad enough but when it concerns a childs health its outrageous.
