Which is your fav and why?I only started getting into the latter recently.I was turned off by the US remakes initially but I'm beginning to see why Jap' psyche' horror is held in such high esteem.

I take it the only connection implied between the two is their country of origin? They are two entirely different subjects (unless you count Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni as psyche horror.) Its kind of like saying apples vs monster trucks - which is your favourite?

The Grudge, probably.I just figured most of ye are going to be into most Japanese sub culture anyway so it would be interesting to compare the genres with people who are probably aquainted with both.

I don't know why, but some of the stuff from studio ghibli just freaks me right the hell out.

It did the first time I saw it. The ending was horrible. I saw it a second time recently with my dad and I laughed at it, it wasn't that scary. I suppose it was scary the first time maybe because I watched it alone. I would recommend the Ring 0, very well done and it really creeped me out. The effects remind me of the Exorcist. That movie terrifies me.

I always thought Yubaba was scary in a disproportionate surreal sense of a way :D
